Van Morrison, the Grammy Award-winning singer and musician, has announced he will perform a concert at Forest Hills Stadium later this year.
Morrison, 76, will take to the stage on Sep. 10 at the 13,000-capacity venue as part of a U.S. tour, he announced Monday. The Forest Hills concert is the only New York location on the tour.
The Northern Irish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is best known for his soulful vocals with hits such as Brown Eyed Girl, Days Like This, Gloria, Moondance as well as Have I Told You Lately.
Morrisons’ music spans a number of genres including soul, R&B, jazz, blues, soft rock and Celtic soul.
The last time “Van the Man” has performed at the famous stadium was in 2018.
The event will also feature a special guest performance by Welsh singer Tom Jones, who is also a Grammy Award winner. Some of Jones’ most popular songs include It’s Not Unusual, Green Green Grass of Home and Delilah.
Pre-sale tickets will for the concert will be available Thursday and prices start at $85.
Morrison first rose to prominence in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of the Northern Irish R&B and rock band called Them.
His solo career kicked off in 1967 with the release of Brown Eyed Girl before he reached critical and commercial success with his 1970 album Moondance which was recorded in Manhattan.
Eighteen of Morrison’s albums have reached the top 40 in the U.S., with twelve of them occurring between 1997 and 2017.
Morrison has generated controversy in recent times by decrying the impact lockdowns and capacity limits were having on the music industry. He set up a financial hardship fund to help musicians who had fallen on hard times because of restrictions and canceled gigs.
In his latest album, a song called “Where Have All the Rebels Gone? takes aims at musicians who failed to speak out and push back against lockdowns. He has also written and released a number of other lockdown protest songs.
